The ball is in his hands!

Seven year old Idan suffering from a debilitating condition called brittle bone disease, had one dream: to own a football signed by the legendary footballer Lionel Messi.  Yesterday Idan’s dream came true!

Unlike most children of his age, Idan Broshkovsky from Metulla cannot play football because if his illness. But unlike most children Idan’s dream did come true!  He received a football signed by the most famous footballer in the world – from Lionel Messi himself!

Idan, who for many years has been receiving rehabilitation in ALYN Hospital Jerusalem, suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease) which causes the bones to break very easily.  Last year, at a festive evening celebrating ALYN Hospital’s  10^th Anniversary International Charity Bike Ride “Wheels of Love”, Idan and his parents were introduced to the hundreds of riders and on that same evening one of the Hospital’s physiotherapists Coos Weber decided to ask Jorge Daniels, one of the participants from Spain to use his connections in Barcelona and to get a football for Idan, signed by the star of the Argentinian team!

Yesterday, during one of Idan’s regular check ups  in ALYN’s multidisciplinary Out Patients Clinic he had an amazing surprise ! He received the football signed by Messi!! “I love this gift – I am so happy! “ said Idan with great excitement.
